Jamie and Adam Look Alike Contest

What is happening?

Frequent visitors might have noticed that the site looks different now. That is because blogger changed somewhat after being "Googletized", and that made my old custom template go a bit freaky on me.

I decided, for the time being, to use a standard blogger template that works with the new blogger until I can figure out how to customize it better.

Good news is that the new blogger is more easy to maintain, and includes cool widgets like the youtube video bar featured to the right. Go ahead look at mythbusters clips to your heart's content!

The results are in!

Ladies and gentlemen.

The judging process has ended, and the results are in. The judge was no other than mr Grant Imahara himself, who helped out with his expertise on the looks of Jamie and Adam.

Here is Grant's verdict:

"There were several excellent entries, and it was hard to choose between them. For me, judging a likeness isn't just about physical appearance. It's the complete package, the little details. Perhaps the most important thing for me is the attitude, and two entries stood out above the rest.

The winners are: "Shane" as Jamie, and "N.Lasar" as Adam.

Congratulations, gentlemen!

Best regards, Grant."

So an autographed photo of Jamie goes to Shane and an autographed photo of Adam to N.Lasar.

And to all the rest of you, thank you for sending in your pictures and giving it your best shot. I enjoyed it immensely, and I hope to be able to return in the future with other contests.

Sallysocks sent me this cute picture of her and her brother. Not taken especially for this contest but Sally tought that her brother looks like Adam in some ways, all "naturel" so to speak. I think she has a point there :)

"After being told countless times that I look like "that one guy" Adam from MythBusters, I decided being him for halloween would be a simple costume. I just need to find a Mythbusters T-Shirt for my outfit! "

05 - "Jenifer's B.I.L." as Adam

Jenifer sent me this picture of her brother in law. She writes:

"Hi! I really think my brother in law should enter... I call him the lovechild of Jamie and Adam, he looks more like Adam. "

Sort of an interesting mix yeah :)

04 - "Bob" as Jamie

"I now wish I hadn't recently trimmed my moustache, but eating was becoming more and more of a problem. I don't know how Jamie does it!" , Bob writes to me. "I get a few stares and sometimes questions on my relation "to that Mythbusters guy", and my work does have some of the same qualities of the show; I get to blow things up!" Bob is a a Mission Flight Control officer (MFCO) with the US Air Force on the Eastern Range, and tells me he gets to destroy a rocket if it violates the safety criteria. :)

Chrissy sent in this pic of her friend Chris. She writes:

"This is a pic of my friend Chris, I think he looks just like Jamie--as well as acts like him, lol."

Well the beard is there, the glasses and some of the general look, I can see where she's going ;) Thanx for the pic Chrissy!

02 - "Shane" as Jamie

Shane actually sent me many pictures of him, and I have chosen one of them.
"...I’ve been shaving my head for probably as long as Jamie.If I could grow hair, I probably would but find that not having to buy shampoo is a good thing. And I’ve found that strangers seem to like touching a freshly shorn scalp.", Shane writes. He also states he is often jealous of Adam and Jamie's jobs when he watches the show. (Aren't we all.. :) Anyway, Thanx for the pictures Shane, and good luck to all contestants.

01 - "Rockard" as Adam

First Contestant! "Rockard" sent me his picture posing as Adam. Good pose, note the earring and dark glasses, as well as the goatee. "Rockard" plays electric guitar and especially loves Country. God Job!

Not Eligible Example Five - Monkeyman

I couldn't help myself :). Colin sent me this Adam lookalike. I do not know who or what it is yet, and I can't include it in the contest, but why not just post it for laughs :)

Okay, here's the last non eligible example. Now PretenderNX01 from the Mythbusters Fan Club Forum found a hat his sister knitted for him and had an idea. Not a bad Tory lookalike there, I especially like the attention to light direction and the facial expression, which is right on the nose ;) Still not eligible since this contest is only for Jamie and Adam look alikes, but now you get the picture (pun intended) of how it's supposed to work! Thanx PretenderNX01 for the pictures! :)

"PretenderNX01" also from the Mythbusters Fan Club Forum, thinks Wally Walrus from Woodie Woodpecker looks like Jamie. Another Walrus here, so we kinda get the picture ;) Still a good find. Not eligible for the contest though. No cartoons or animals ;)

"SofiaAlexandra" from the mythbusters fan club forum thought this walrus looks like Jamie, and I'm willing to agree :) "Walruses are cool, and so Is jamie", says SofiaAlexandra. It does of course not really classify as a Look-alike person, it's an animal!

Not Eligible Example One

As suggested by Sas over at the Mythbusters fanclub message boards, Dr. Bunsen and Dr Beaker from the muppet show are really good lookalikes for Jamie and Adam. One really wonders if this is where they got the look from ;) These two lookalikes are of course not in the competition! They have been photoshopped, and are not real people.

Thanx to Mr Mistoffolees at the mythbusters fan club forums for letting me use his pictures here. He photoshopped "Adam's" glasses and "Jamies" Beret and beard. He told me he needed no credits for that, but I wanted to thank him anyway :)

Rules

Okay people, here are the rules:

1. Contest stop date, January 1st 2007 00:00 CET (Central European Time)
2. Pictures of the real Jamie or Adam will not be accepted. (obviously)
3. No Photoshopping or altering (compositing) of the pictures is allowed.
4. State who You are impersonating in the picture, Adam or Jamie ;) Just to be clear.
5. State whether You want Your real name featured in the blog, or an alias.
6. Keep the pictures small, about 400 pixles wide, with the person clearly visible.
7. Every contestant will get an identification number, this is shown in the post and is not a rank.
8. Winners will be chosen as soon as possible after the stop date.
9. The pictures will be judged according to the general impression of the lookalike.
10. One winner will be called for the Adam category and one for Jamie.
11. If too few entries have been made when the stop-date is reached, the stop date might be postponed.

More on the Judging process later. I think there might be a surprise! :)
